Darya Shadchneva — the second finalist of the North Palmyra Trophies tournament

The tennis player from Khimki, a suburb of Moscow, defeated Ksenia Smirnova 6/4, 7/6 (7-2).

Darya Shadchneva and Ksenia Smirnova, who met in the second semifinal of the junior tournament, know each other well and have even played in doubles. At the beginning of the match, both girls were noticeably nervous, as Daria later confirmed in an interview with Evgeny Donskoy: «There was nervousness, and neither Ksenia nor I could show our best game».

Both sets unfolded in a typical feminine manner, featuring a mix of errors and impressive shots, plenty of break points, and lost serves. Shadchneva claimed the first set 6-4, and in the second, the tennis players, taking turns seizing the initiative, reached a tie-break. There, Daria executed the points with maximum composure, while Ksenia unfortunately twisted her leg in one of the game episodes. Despite the discomfort, she played through the pain. However, her opponent secured victory in two sets.

In the final, Daria Shadchneva will face Victoria Milovanova, they not only train at the same academy but also under the guidance of the same coach. The two girls have met twice in junior ITF tournament finals this year, and their head-to-head record is currently tied at 1-1. «Of course, we know each other well», said the finalist of the North Palmyra Trophies tournament. «It will be an interesting match, and may the strongest win».
