Schnaider crumples Zvonareva's resistance over
The 19-year-old Sphinx player secured victory 5/7, 6/4, 10-6.

Vera Zvonareva and Diana Schnaider were inspired by the marathon played before them by Anastasia Potapova and Veronika Kudermetova, becoming even more resilient opponents. Rarely did a game pass without a fierce battle. The 39-year-old Zvonareva and the 19-year-old Schneider relentlessly chased each other across the court, delighting the audience with spectacular rallies.

In the first set, Zvonareva converted a break and ultimately took the set 7:5. In the second set, Diana led 2:0, but Vera fought back. In the middle of the match, Schnaider managed to win her serve 'to love' then made a break, served for the set, and even had a double set point, but the “lioness” once again saved herself. The 19-year-old tennis player still took the next game on serve, along with the second set.

The tie-break, which started after two hours of battle, turned out to be insane – in the spirit of the entire match. Zvonareva took the lead 6:4, but after that, Schnaider switched to 'turbo' mode, overwhelmed her opponent with aggressive actions, won six points in a row, and ultimately secured the victory. The 'Sphinxes' led 3-2.

«I couldn't let the team down» Diana later said. «I couldn't fail to win the second set and not determine who was stronger in the final tie-break».
