Before the final day of the tournament, the "Sphinxes" are one point ahead of the "Lions"
On how the second of the North Palmyra Trophies has gone

Roberto Bautista Agut, Mansour Bahrami, Mikhail Youzhny, Pedro Martinez are on the courts of the Arena from early morning. And it’s not because they are getting ready for the matches of the third international tennis tournament "North Palmyra Trophies", it’s because their mission is not less important, they participate in kids clinics, where young tennis players as well as their star tutors are also united in two teams: "Lions" and "Sphinxes". When the center court of the big arena is yours, you shall use your chance to show yourself even if it is a master class, so the work is in full swing.

The greatest showman Mansour Bahrami

Right after practical work on the court, you can return to theory – especially if a person whose tennis career has been going on for 63 years is ready to answer your questions. The Iranian-French tennis player Mansour Bahrami answered questions from small tennis players, some of whom did not hesitate to ask questions in English, without using the services of an interpreter. The tennis legend's answers were so inspiring and motivating that almost every one of them was accompanied by applause from the audience, who pulled up to look at the famous "man behind the mustache" in the tennis world.

Khachanov and Shnaider won their matches

The Russian Karen Khachanov, ranked 19th in the world, won his match vs the Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis, whose season is still ongoing, because he came to St. Petersburg straight from the Davis Cup. Having lost the first set 3/4, Karen confidently played the second set - 6/2, in the third set there was a draw 3/3, but in terms of the total score 12-9, the victory remained with Karen.

The Russian Diana Shnaider also managed to take revenge for last year's defeat at the tournament in St. Petersburg; she managed to reduce the gap of the "Sphinxes" team, beating Bulgarian Victoria Tomova 4/2, 3/3, 5/2.

The Serb Dusan Lajovic and Spaniard Pedro Martinez had a very even match, so it did not particularly affect the overall team standings, although Dusan Lajovic liked the format; at the post-match press conference, he admitted that he got the taste.
The real show was put on the court during the doubles match Bautista-Agut/Khachanov ("Lions") and Bublik/Kokkinakis ("Sphinxes"), the temperamental Kazakh-Australian duo returned their team back on track, defeating their opponents 12-9 (3/3, 5 /2, 4/4).

At the end of the tennis match Anastasia Potapova take on Yulia Putintseva. And you can’t say that the tournament is an exhibition and doesn’t solve anything. The girls showed a beautiful fight on the court, Putintseva edged out Potapova by one game and brought their team forward.

Thus, the score before the final day of the competition became 71-72 in favor of the "Sphinxes". Who will take the coveted trophy? The intrigue remains.
